This is a remarkable achievement and a rarity for an individual to earn the honor of Master. As a general rule achieving such a high rank, in and of itself, in the martial arts world due to the time and dedication needed to learn the requisite techniques and skills. Master Bertling has put in tremendous dedication and time to earn his Masters, 25 years to be exact.
He is also the 2010 World Champion Sparring, Certified Instructor, Certified Level II Warrior Krav Maga Instructor, ShowTime Mixed Martial Arts Instructor, Expert with life skills coaching & training with 25 years of martial arts experience.
Master Bertling started Martial Arts in 1992 and has had a passion for it from the beginning. He gives a lot of credit to his inspiration, Chief Master Niblock. He says, "without him, I wouldn't be where I am today." Chief Masater Niblock gave Master Bertling all the tough training as a child through young adulthood. Master Niblock helped forge his tenacity, focus, mental/physical toughness and discipline. With everything in life Master Bertling hit a few struggles, with injuries that required surgeries. However, these setbacks always helped him with major comebacks! Testing for his Masters has far been the hardest test of all. He spent time researching fasting and prepared his mind and body for the most intense workout of his life without fuel and succeeded.
The main purpose Master Bertling has as an instructor of martial arts is to make a difference. He believes he has the ultimate vehicle to help people succeed in their life with specialized martial arts training in life skills, physical fitness and personal safety. His philosophy in the teaching of martial arts is that the fundamental goal is to shape successful human beings - true champions - who will help create a better world. More than teaching martial arts skills, the program also focuses on leadership training, encouraging students to overcome their fears and live outside of their comfort zone on and off the mat. "You have to have a positive attitude and you have to always try to do the best you can,” Master Bertling said.
